Make your password strong:
Use a combination of letters, numbers and punctuation marks, avoid including your name or common words.
Add mobile and email:
Add & verify your mobile no. & email (change its privacy to only me) in case if somethings happens you can get back to your account with that.
Never share log in informatiom:
Never share your login information (ex: email address and password) with anyone else.
Don't use your Facebook password anywhere else online.
Log out of facebook:
Log out of Facebook when you use a computer, phone or tablet you share with other people. Avoid using the “remember password” feature on web browsers.
Avoid unknow people:
Don't accept friend requests from people you don't know and don't send requests to unknown people.
Change your password frequently:
Keep changing your password frequently after few months. It will reduce the chances of getting hacked.
Never click suspicious link:
Such as Money Offers, Internet Offers, Porn links or Shocking Videos etc. When you click them they redirects you to untrusted pages and can steal cookies & can take control of your facebook account and can access your personal data & info as well.
Read app permission carefully:
Playing quiz, facebook games or installing app on facebook requires permissions. By granting permissions, unknown apps and games can controld your account and access your personal data & information.
Avoid malware attacks:
When we try to watch videos on facebook some popups appear like install plugings,update codecs to watch videos.These are malware & trojans which can be very harmful for your account & device.
Scan your device dailly:
Run antivirus software or apps on computers, phones or tablets you use to log in to detect Infected Apps.
Beware of phissing sites:
Be careful while logging into your account.There may be sites which look similar to facebook but are fake and made to hack accounts. So be careful and check the address of your login page whether it is facebook.com or not.
Fake security messeges:
You may recieve messages with names like Facebook Account Security,Facebook Team, Security Team etc. to change your password or to enter your login details etc. These are totally fake & will hack your account. Do not respond or click on links of those messages. Facebook never send such messages so don't forget to report them.
Setup login alerts:
Login Alerts send you an alert when someone logs into your account from a new device or browser.
You can choose to get login alerts via Facebook notifications, email, or text messages.
Choose trusted contacts:
Your “Trusted Contacts” are friends that Facebook enables to securely help you if you ever have trouble accessing your account.
Activate login approvals:
Login Approvals gives your account an extra level of security by requesting a security code when you log in from an unknown browser. To set up Login Approvals, click on the word “Edit” to the right of “Login Approvals,” then click on “Get Started” to begin the setup wizard.
The most common way to access login codes is through your phone — either by text message or the Facebook app.
If you anticipate that you might need login codes when you do not have your phone nearby, you can get 10 codes ahead of time (which you can print off or write down, etc.) from Facebook.
To do this, open the “Login Approvals” section, click on “Get codes,” enter your Facebook password, and click “Submit.”
Where you'r log in.
The Where You're Logged In section of your Security Settings page shows you a list of browsers and devices that have been used to log in to your account recently. Each entry includes the date, time and approximate location when signing in, as well as the type of device used to access your account. You'll also see the option to End Activity and log yourself out on that computer, phone or tablet.
